About WMAAF

The Worthing Music and Arts Festival is a long-established celebration of performance, creativity and artistic development, bringing together participants of all ages from across Worthing, West Sussex and beyond. Each year, the Festival provides a welcoming and inspiring platform for musicians, dancers, performers and artists to share their work in a supportive and professionally run environment.

Affiliated with the British and International Federation of Festivals (BIFF), the Festival is part of a respected network of performing arts festivals across the UK and internationally. This affiliation ensures high standards of organisation, adjudication and participant experience, and reflects the Festival’s commitment to encouraging excellence in the performing arts.

The Federation of Festivals acts as the member body for amateur competitive festivals of performing arts, supporting events that promote participation, education and artistic growth. As part of this network, the Worthing Music & Arts Festival upholds shared values of inclusivity, encouragement and opportunity for all.

At its heart, the Festival exists to provide a platform for performance. Participants have the opportunity to present their work to an audience, hear the work of others and gain valuable experience performing in a live setting. Whether taking part for the first time or returning as a more experienced competitor, performers benefit from a positive and constructive environment designed to support confidence and development.

A key element of the Festival is the opportunity to receive feedback from professional adjudicators. Each section is assessed by experienced practitioners in their field, who provide both written and verbal feedback. This guidance is intended not only to recognise achievement, but also to help participants develop their skills, technique and artistic expression.

The Festival welcomes a wide range of disciplines, typically including music, dance and speech and drama, with classes designed for individuals, duets and groups across a broad range of age categories. This diversity creates a vibrant programme and allows participants to experience a variety of performances and artistic styles.

As a performing arts festival in Worthing, West Sussex, the event also plays an important role in the local cultural community. It provides opportunities for schools, groups and independent performers to take part in a well-established arts event, while offering audiences the chance to enjoy a varied programme of performances throughout the Festival period.

Above all, the Worthing Music & Arts Festival is committed to fostering a love of the arts, encouraging participation and creating positive performance experiences for all involved. Whether performing, supporting or attending, the Festival offers a welcoming and enriching experience for the whole community.
